Tonya Monro

Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist (MSW, RSW) in Ontario

Tonya has 20 years of experience in a variety of settings, working alongside individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. She takes a collaborative, partnership-based approach to therapy, grounded in the belief that people are the experts in their own lives and that her role is to support others to uncover meaningful insights, identify solutions, and move forward in ways that align with their own values and goals.

Her approach is dynamic, and she draws from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including mindfulness-based approaches, somatic therapy and emotionally focused therapy. She supports individual clients and dyads (two individuals or couples) in her sessions.

Tonya has experience supporting those navigating grief, addictions, disabilities, codependency, communication challenges, relationship and intimacy concerns, and work-related stress. She balances empathy, deep listening, and understanding with a proactive, solution-focused lens, helping you translate insights into meaningful, practical action.

Supporting caregivers is an area of particular interest, relevance and passion for Tonya, as she is the primary caregiver to her brother, who has autism and a developmental delay.

She offers a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and genuinely seen.

Tonya loves being near, on or in the water, her dog and spending time with friends and family.

Katy Kumar

Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist (MSW, RSW) in Ontario

Katy specializes in supporting caregivers, families, and individuals facing complex mental health challenges with almost a decade in the field. Her approach integrates evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Compassion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Skills, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing.

Katy has worked in hospital settings, as well as in community mental health programs. She has extensive experience in developing and facilitating support groups for caregivers of those with acquired brain injuries, creating spaces for connection and focusing on relationships, ambiguous loss, grief, stress, and self-care. She additionally has years of experience supporting caregivers of those with mental health concerns including schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder.

With a strong commitment to cultural humility, Katy has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and understands the complexities of acculturation and transnational caregiving. In addition to her clinical practice, she is a PhD candidate at McMaster University, where her research explores the experiences of family caregivers during end-of-life care. She is also a sessional instructor, teaching Aging and Mental Health, further demonstrating her dedication to advancing mental health knowledge and practice. Katy has also contributed to research publications, presentations, and other media, sharing insights on MAiD, caregiving, and mental health issues.

Residing in Niagara, she offers virtual counselling services to ensure accessibility. She provides compassionate, client-centered care, guiding caregivers through personal and systemic challenges with a practical and holistic approach.

Heather Allan

Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist (MSW, RSW) in Ontario

Heather has worked for many years in healthcare in both hospital and community settings. She has experience working with clients in crisis, assisting clients navigate the healthcare system and most recently has been working at a memory clinic supporting caregivers.

She is an assistant professor at McMaster University in the Health Sciences Department working with medical students and regularly updates herself on the challenges and inadequacies of our health care system.

Heather specializes in providing one-on-one therapy with those experiencing loss and grief and those who are struggling in their role as caregiver. Heather herself has struggled with these issues which provides her with a unique ability to relate to clients with genuine curiosity and compassion. She works to help her clients re-discover balance in their lives while focusing on their strengths and learning new skills to ride the ups and downs of life. She has a talent for connecting with people and offers a warm and supportive environment where people can feel heard and validated.

Heather uses several therapeutic methods and adjusts her approach based on an individual’s needs and goals for therapy. Her practice uses narrative therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and more. She has a particular interest in how pain and suffering can be released by the body and works to integrate this into her practice.

Heather resides in Guelph, Ontario and enjoys hiking the Bruce Trail, getting out on her stand up paddle board and spending time with her partner and adult children.

Michelle Kent

Michelle has over ten years of experience working with caregivers in multiple levels of the healthcare system and in community settings. She has provided extensive crisis interventions, supportive counselling and has significant experience care planning for older adults managing complex cognitive and physical concerns.

Michelle has witnessed the ongoing pressures and overwhelming system navigation caregivers can face regularly they balance care for their loved ones.

Michelle provides a gentle, welcoming space for her clients and practices with curiosity, encouraging clients to explore their own wealth of strengths. She is trauma-informed and uses a variety of therapeutic approaches and modalities in her practice with clients including: Internal Family Systems (Level-1 trained by IFS Institute) Emotional-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Feminist Theory and Person-Centered Therapies.

Michelle resides in Toronto, Ontario with her partner and dog Otis and enjoys running and playing volleyball.

Stephanie Muskat

Stephanie is an award-winning registered clinical social worker and psychotherapist. Prior to transitioning to private practice full-time, Stephanie worked in acute care and mental health research at several major hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area (Ontario, Canada).

Her work is primarily focused on caregivers and their aging loved ones. Stephanie has been featured on numerous television networks and radio stations (including CTV, CP24, and Rogers Television) and has presented at numerous universities and public events to raise awareness about mental health and mental health support. Stephanie has acted as a primary caregiver to several family members and brings her personal experiences to her work with clients.

Stephanie has a strengths-based, non-judgmental approach focused on empowerment and positive growth and change. She believes that our daily experiences in life are an interplay between ourselves, the systems that surround us, and how we have been impacted by our experiences from childhood to the present moment. She uses a number of therapeutic modalities in her practice including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and psychodynamic approaches.

Stephanie sits on several committees and advocacy groups aimed at raising awareness and change for caregivers and is the co-chair of Caregivers CAN (Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence) and a member of the Caregiver Centered Care Physician Advisory Network (University of Alberta) and the Baycrest Hospital Young Caregivers Advisory Network.

Stephanie resides in Toronto, Ontario with her husband and children.
